These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of LinguaRush, a browser-based language learning game ("the Game", "LinguaRush", "this whole thing"). By accessing or playing LinguaRush, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian should review these Terms alongside you — ideally with a cup of chai or coffee.
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use LinguaRush after changes are posted means you accept those changes. We promise not to sneak anything alarming in there.
LinguaRush is a game. A fun game. A game designed to help people — especially younger learners — engage with the languages in an enjoyable, low-pressure environment. It is not a certified educational institution, a replacement for a qualified language teacher, or a miracle cure for forgetting your homework. It is a game. Please treat it accordingly.
Any learning that occurs as a side effect of playing LinguaRush is a happy bonus and entirely your own achievement. We'll take partial credit, but we'll let you have most of it.
LinguaRush tracks your scores. Sometimes those scores will be high. Sometimes they will be... less high. This is normal, healthy, and character-building. We kindly ask that you refrain from emotional distress over a number on a screen. Low scores are not a reflection of your intelligence, your worth as a person, or your future career prospects. They are simply an invitation to play again.
In multiplayer rooms, you may occasionally find yourself competing against bots. These bots are fast, tireless, and have no social lives whatsoever. The good news: bots will automatically leave the room once enough real human players join. The solution to bots is friendship. Invite your friends, family, classmates, or that one cousin who is always on their phone anyway. The bots will take the hint and vanish.
We do our best to keep LinguaRush running smoothly. However, we are a small, independent project — not a Fortune 500 company with a basement full of servers and a 24/7 operations team. Occasionally, the game may be unavailable due to maintenance, unexpected technical issues, Firebase having a moment, or the general chaos of the internet.
Uptime is, frankly, best supported by a steady stream of donations to the author of this game. Hosting costs real money. Keeping the lights on, the servers running, and the game ad-free requires ongoing funding. If LinguaRush has brought you joy, taught you a word, or helped a child learn something new, consider buying the developer a virtual cup of chai. It goes a long way.
We will never intentionally take the game down without notice, but we cannot guarantee 100% uptime, and any downtime — planned or otherwise — does not make us liable for any damages, losses, inconveniences, or unfinished game sessions.
LinguaRush is a web-based game that runs in your browser. It has been designed to be lightweight and well-behaved. That said, if something goes sideways on your end — your browser crashes, your computer overheats, your cat walks across the keyboard at a critical moment — that is beyond our control and we cannot be held responsible.
In the extraordinarily unlikely event that LinguaRush somehow contributes to a technical issue on your device, we are sorry to hear it, but we are not liable. Please ensure your browser is up to date, your device has adequate resources to run a browser-based game, and your cat is supervised.
LinguaRush contains zero advertisements. No banners, no pop-ups, no sponsored content, no "one weird trick" sidebars, no autoplay video ads, nothing. This is a deliberate and ongoing choice — one that costs money to maintain, because the alternative (ads) would fund the hosting but compromise the experience.
We believe you deserve a clean, distraction-free learning environment, especially for younger players. We consider this a point of pride. If you appreciate it, the best way to say thank you is to spread the word — or, as mentioned, contribute to keeping the game alive.
We expect users to engage with LinguaRush in good faith. This means no attempting to manipulate scores through automated tools, no exploiting bugs for unfair advantage (please report bugs instead — we'd genuinely appreciate it), and no behavior intended to disrupt other players' experience. In short: be a good sport. It's a language game. We're all here to learn something.
All content within LinguaRush — including but not limited to the game design, graphics, question sets, scoring logic, and the name "LinguaRush" — is the intellectual property of its creator. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or repurpose any part of this game without explicit written permission. Sharing the game with others, however, is not only allowed but warmly encouraged.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, LinguaRush and its creator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of — or inability to use — this game. This includes, without limitation, loss of data, loss of progress, loss of a multiplayer match you were definitely about to win, or any other loss of any kind.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of LinguaRush shall not exceed the amount you have paid us to use the game — which, since LinguaRush is free, is zero dollars. We say this with warmth, not malice.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. We genuinely hope it never comes to that — this is a word game, not a courtroom drama.
